Daryl Murphy headed home a late winner as the Blues came from behind to beat Huddersfield 2-1 at Portman Road. The Terriers were deservedly ahead at the break via Danny Ward, skipper James Vaughan having had a penalty saved at Town for the second successive season, but David McGoldrick equalised soon after the restart then Murphy won it in the 89th minute.

Trevor Whymark and Eric Gates were amongst those inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame at Friday night’s ex-players’ dinner. Also added were Sir Alf Ramsey’s coach Jimmy Forsyth and former player Basil Acres, who both picked up posthumous Special Merit Awards.

Town legend Ray Crawford admitted that he had a tear in his eye when the current Blues side came over to applaud him and his fellow 1961/62 First Division champions moments before the start of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Barnsley. Crawford, Andy Nelson, Larry Carberry, John Compton, Doug Moran and Ted Phillips were in the directors’ box having renamed the South Stand the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand in honour of their mentor.

Daryl Murphy’s fourth goal of his second loan spell with the Blues was enough to see Town to a 1-0 victory over Barnsley at Portman Road. The Irishman struck soon after half-time with the on-loan Celtic man and Lee Martin subsequently having good chances to add to the Blues’ lead, while Jay Emmanuel-Thomas struck the bar.

A Grant Holt hat-trick condemned 10-man Town to a disastrous 4-1 defeat to Norwich at Carrow Road. Holt appeared to handle the ball in the run-up to the opening goal, but Town struck back through Delaney soon after. Holt added his second before Delaney was red-carded for hauling down the Norwich skipper, then after the break Holt netted his third and sub Wes Hoolahan completed the scoring.
